GE Introduces Software to Integrate Data from Monitoring Systems
GE Healthcare’s Centricity system was expanded with the introduction of the Centricity Enterprise Monitored Care application. The new solution supports integration of medical device and clinical data into a unified platform, described in a press release from the company.
The tool extends a comprehensive electronic medical record by integrating data captured by bedside medical devices. A wide range of devices are supported from a variety of clinical settings including the emergency room, intensive care unit, and cardiac care unit.
The Centricity Enterprise Monitored Care system can more rapidly display monitoring information, in addition to providing faster access to such data. The Centricity Device Interface (CDI) supports connections with gateways for medical devices to integrate device data in real time, such as blood pressure or heart rate.
The solution provides a variety of means in which data can be displayed. One configuration allows monitoring of vital signs along with information about medications, laboratory data, and patient output and intake, for example.
The availability of a system that automatically integrates this critical data can significantly reduce the paperwork burden for clinical staff, particularly in those environments that utilize monitoring systems extensively. The Centricity system can further improve the quality of care by allowing providers more time to focus on delivery of care.
GE developed the new solution through a partnership with researchers at the University of California San Francisco.
