Healthcare Systems Adopts Card to Improve Convenience

The Community Health Network in Indianapolis is going to start providing patients with “myCommunity” cards. The tool is about the size of a standard credit card and will further leverage technology resources in the healthcare system.

The health system, which serves Central Indiana, is an extension of the myCommunity program. That program is intended to improve the convenience of the healthcare system.

Patients can easily check in and check out to the health systems with the new card, as described on the Community Health Network site. The network plans to install healthcare kiosks; the first will be installed at Community North. These will be installed at other facilities over time. This will help reduce paperwork during check-in.

In addition to their use with the kiosks, the myCommunity system will allow patients to keep better track of their medications and disease states. Patients will also be able to receive medical reminders, chat with nurses, and order prescriptions and refills.

The system also includes patient medical history, with a patient health record that was recently updated. This additionally includes emergency contact information and insurance coverage for patients, a beneficial feature if patients present to the emergency room.
