Identity Management System Launched by QuadraMed

QuadraMed announced the launch of a next-generation system for identity management. The tool is designed to assist both health information exchanges and hospitals manage patient records.

The Smart I/X system serves as both a record locator/reconciliation system, as well as an enterprise master person index (EMPI). The primary intent of this system is to allow healthcare organizations to more easily access and identify patients. The system additionally supports the maintenance of a complete patient record across multiple different data sources.

The tool additionally supports compliance with HIPAA guidelines. A probabilistic algorithm was created for the system which allows examination of all the records that are maintained within an organization’s repository. These can then be cross-referenced and reconciled. Following such, each patient is assigned their own unique identifier.

The company notes that the system supports organizations in the delivery of high quality care. This is supported by ensuring clinician access to complete medical records at the point-of-care. This ensures availability of information to support decision-making and decreases the likelihood of errors. It further decreases the likelihood of test duplication.

An additional benefit of the tool is minimizing the duplication of patient records within a single healthcare system. Patient records can also be shared, allowing centers to create a longitudinal view of both financial and clinical data.
