LodgeNet Makes Interactive Inroads Into Hospitals
Gary Kolbeck, LodgeNet Entertainment’s vice president of health care business development, told the Associated Press that his company has installed, or is to install, interactive TV systems in about 30 hospitals in half a dozen states. LodgeNet provides service to more than one million hotel rooms in 6,000 hotel properties worldwide, and started selling into healthcare facilities roughly 18 months ago. Albert Pilkington III, chief executive of Fairmont General Hospital in West Virginia, said the system, soon to be rolled out at Fairmont, would include a real-time patient satisfaction survey. Patients like having more entertainment options than plain old TV. According to WBOY Pilkington was brought by the hospital’s board to turn it around. The AP’s article does not provide very specific numbers but it estimates the cost at about $1,500 per room.
