Misys Healthcare’s CEO Tom Skelton Chimes In
Tom Skelton is Misys Healthcare’s CEO since 2000 and a board member since July 2002. The widely read HIStalk weblog more than once featured less-than-flattering comments from people claiming to be employees of the company. Nonetheless Mr. Skelton contacted HIStalk to extend an offer to add his perspective, which led to this interview published today that covers a lot of ground on where the company is. Topics include:
- where healthcare sits within the Mysis group which also include financial software systems (it sold its general insurance broking systems business earlier this year).
- How human resources issues are handled, including turnover, local vs. national hiring, and hiring outside of healthcare.
- How well business units and product lines are doing, such as Sunquest or the Computerised Patient Record (CPR) product acquired from Per-Se three years ago.
- How the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) market going to evolve and what are the company’s long term plans.
