MR Perfusion Software Approved for Market

IB Neuro, new magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) perfusion software developed by Imaging Biometrics, LLC received marketing clearance from the Food and Drug Administration. The solution provides support for imaging brain disease, including tumors as reported by Medicexchange.

IB Neuro integrates proprietary computational algorithms. The robust system provides clinicians with additional, more specific information about the biology and vasculature of the brain. This is supported through the system’s ability to account and correct for contrast-agent leakage effects.

The system is available as an Osiri-X plug-in and is an open source, imaging processing software solution. The system generates and also displays perfusion parameter colormaps in a few seconds.

Currently available dynamic susceptibility contract (DSC) post-processing software tools to support MRI imaging of the brain do not account for leakage effects. As such, the results provided can vary widely. As well, the display time for existing solutions can take at least an hour to generate after processing.

Results from studies using IB Neuro indicate that the new system is able to consistently differentiate between healthy and abnormal brain tissue to a statistically significant degree. When compared other MR perfusion technologies, IB Neuro was dramatically superior in capturing the differences.

The company previously released Beta versions of the software, used for research purposes, to over 24 facilities across the world. They have already established relationships with pharmaceutical companies to use the tool for the development of new pharmaceutical therapies.
