Tenn Signs Contract with SXC Health
TennCare, the Medicaid program for the State of Tennessee, will begin to use a pharmacy benefits management (PBM) solution from SXC Health Solutions, Corporation. The two organizations signed a $35 million contract that will continue over a three year period, as described by SXC.
The Healthcare Information Technology (HCIT) group at SXC Health will administer the pharmacy claims system for TennCare. This automated, online system processes all of the pharmacy transactions for Medicaid. SXC Health will also support the agency’s Preferred Drug List, provide pharmacists with weekly service payments, generate weekly data for encounters, and reconciliation service. SXC will also manage the TennCare pharmacy network.
TennCare pharmacy executives note that this new contract will support the incentives included in the State program. The contract was executed with SXC recognizing the company’s technology, expertise, and tools to support the TennCare benefits administration for pharmacy services. An additional key benefit is the ability to control costs through the available services.
SXC Health Solutions provides both PBM and HCIT solutions for the management of healthcare benefits.
