Ithaka and Alsius Merger Completed
The merger between Alsius Corporation and Ithaka Acquisition Corporation was completed (pdf) on June 25th.
Ithaka was absorbed by Alsius and is now a wholly-owned subsidiary. The newly formed organization has been renamed the Alsius Medical Corporation.
Alsius’s existing product line includes devices which maintain optimal patient body temperature in the critical care environment. Products use an intravascular approach for heating and cooling patients with catheter placement. The approach with these devices, compared to external warming devices such as blankets, provides increased control to manage patients’ core temperature.
