MC Technologies Providing HazMat Software to VA

MC Technologies has completed a deal with six Veterans Administration hospitals to provide a software system that catalogs hazardous waste. The deal was for $668,000, as reported by the Business Journal of Phoenix.

The company will provide each of the facilities with its Maxcom System. Facilities in the Southwest region of the Veterans Integrated Service Network are deploying the surveillance software.

Maxcom includes the Healthcare Select database, which provides immediate web access to over 30,000 Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) relevant to the healthcare setting. A summary of information from each MSDS can be printed for ease of use.

Also included in Maxcom is information on General Hazard Communication training and testing compliant with the Code of Federal Regulations. Labels can be printed from any computer with the Maxcom software for secondary containers. New chemicals can also be added to the database to ensure the most comprehensive system possible.

The software is one step forward in assuring that the hospitals are in compliance with 2005 standards set forth by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Additional standards are set forth by both the Joint Commission and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). MC Technologies states that compliance can be achieved within hours rather than requiring weeks or months of preparation.
