Medication Dispensing System Launched
A new technology to automate medication dispensing was licensed by Automated Medical Systems (AMS). The organization was able to procure the technology rights with aid from CJPS Enterprises, LLC. The acquisition was detailed in a press release from CJPS. AMS has been expanding their product line to included automated products for use in the healthcare industry.
The tool developed automates delivery of pharmacotherapy from a computerized cart for drug distribution that can be used in any healthcare facility. Drugs are dispensed by nursing staff in a prepackaged unit that contains a single dose for the particular patient based on physician orders.
The computerized cart stores information about patients which can be accessed by healthcare personnel. Staff can input requests for patient doses directly into the delivery cart.
The cart also tracks medication dispensing, monitoring, and tracking drug delivery to patients with time and date stamps with a detector that is attached to the medication cart.
