System to Track Medication Implemented at New England Sinai

The New England Sinai Hospital and Rehabilitation Center installed a medication management and treatment program to help reduce the incidence of errors in medication delivery. The organization procured the eMAR/BMV system (Electronic Medication Administration Record/Bedside Medication Verification), which went live during the past month.

The program uses a wireless scanner system for healthcare providers to verify patient and medication information at the bedside, employing a computer with an attached scanner. The initial response from clinical staff members has been positive.
