RiskWatch Software Introduced for Healthcare Security

RiskWatch, Incorporated launched a new software system (pdf), RiskWatch for Healthcare Security. The new solution is the most comprehensive assessment that is currently available to complete physician security assessments at both hospitals and other healthcare facilities. The product launch was described on the RiskWatch site.

The new program includes a basic questionnaire application that is completed on the internet. A wide array of groups can be surveyed, including security officers, administrative staff, and clinical staff. All complete the survey electronically and the system compiles the collective answers immediately for review.

The system assesses facilities comprehensively. As well, the new standards required by the Joint Commission are evaluated in the RiskWatch solution. The program includes a comprehensive checklist based on the standards developed by the Joint Commission. This tool assists staff to internally assess security, as well as directly measure compliance.

Every major area of security assessment is reviewed with the RiskWatch system. Included is the development of a written Security Management Plan, conducting Risk Assessment annually, evaluating the threat environment, and controlling access to the facility. Other components included are developing a proactive plan to prevent abduction of infants and means to minimize potential violence in the emergency room.

GE Security and Massachusetts General Hospital collaborated with RiskWatch to develop the new RiskWatch for Healthcare Security program. RiskWatch, Inc. develops security risk assessment and compliance software to streamline the risk management process in healthcare facilities. Existing clients include the National Security Agency, the Veterans Administration, IBM, and the U.S. Department of Defense, among others.
