Thefts of Medical Equipment

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports on a recent trend of expensive medical equipment being stolen from hospitals in Western Pennsylvania. Most frequently taken is endoscopy equipment, particularly that used for colonoscopies, which can cost upwards of $25,000.

The local FBI is monitoring activity in light of the trend, citing over several million dollars of stolen equipment in western Pennsylvania alone. Other local FBI offices have been alerted of the trend.
