Wound Debridement System Strategy Updated
The deal previously executed between Medline Industries, Incorporated and Misonix, Incorporated for the distribution of the Misonix ultrasound wound debridement system, the SonicOne System, has expired. The two organizations were working to develop an approach for distribution of this device.
Based on efforts completed thus far, it appears that marketing success will best be achieved through product sales by a proprietary distribution network. Medline, however, will complete pending deals through the end of March.
The SonicOne System is used as a tool to support primary and maintenance debridement among patients with arterial and venous ulcers, colonized bacterial wounds, burns, dehisced ulcers, and diabetic foot and pressure ulcers. The device is recognized for offering precise therapy.
The SonicOne works by stimulating the wound microenvironment. It also efficiently destroys wound biofilm. During treatment, imploding cavitation bubbles create microflow patterns. These help to break away necrotic from viable tissue, which supports selective and thorough debridement.
As well, the SonicOne System preserves the healthy tissue, the treatment approach fosters granulation of the wound bed. There is less trauma to the surrounding tissue and reduced bleeding compared to debridement approaches that incorporate blunt instrumentation. Another benefit is reduced pain as patients undergo the procedure, which is well tolerated.
