Portable Gamma Camera Introduced
Dilon Technologies developed a new transportable version of the company’s Dilon 6800 Gamma Camera. The new Dilon 6800 Access was launched to expand the utility of the camera, allowing one system to be used at a variety of different centers.
The system is particularly appropriate for those healthcare organizations that do not have sufficient patient volume to justify purchase of cameras for each facility, such as smaller community hospitals. A camera that can be transported allows completion of gamma imaging without unwarranted expense.
Dilon specializes in the development of medical imaging products. One of the company’s main products is the Dilon 6800. That system is a small field-of-view, high resolution camera indicated to complete breast-specific gamma imaging (BSGI). This system allows assessment of the metabolic activity of breast lesions
A small study completed by researchers from George Washington University indicates the utility of BSGI to detect DCIS. The tool even appears to detect some lesions that are not detectable with mammography. That study was previously posted on HospitalBuyer.
