Sample Protection Tools Offered by Thermo Fisher Scientific
Thermo Fisher Scientific has an array of adhesive seals available for PCR and storage. All of the seals available are certified free of RNase, human genomic DNA, and DNase. They are designed to create a seal that is sufficient to prevent sample evaporation during storage or thermal cycling. News about the product line was posted on Clinical Lab Products.
A number of distinct applications for different requirements have been introduced by the company. Their Adhesive PCR Foil includes a thin aluminum layer, ideal for automated applications, that is simple to pierce. The DSMO-resistant seal ensures sample security can withstand temperatures ranging from -70 to 150 Celsius.
Adhesive PCR Film is a clear, plastic film that reliably provides maximum security for specimens during thermal cycling. The clears cover allows visual inspection of the sample. The ABsolute QPCR Seal is another optically clear film. This product is designed to support improved transmission of fluorescence, specifically for QPCR and other applications that involve use of optics.
All these products are specifically designed to support simplified positioning and handling. Both the PCR and QPCR covers can be removed without leaving any residue, which facilitates re-sealing. The adhesive used in the QPCR cover only activates when pressure is directly applied.
The company also manufactures the Adhesive Seal Applicator. This tool can be used to seal all variety of plates with a flat, rigid design that provides consistent pressure across the entire plate and an even seal.
