Ventilators for Use with MRI Approved

The FDA approved a ventilator (pdf) that can be used while patients undergo MRI imaging. This technology advancement will decrease the amount of time required to obtain such studies for patients who require breathing assistance in the radiology suite, as well as wards responsible for patient care, because it negates the need to switch breathing support methods.

It may also offer potential spillover benefits for patients with less acute conditions who must wait will more critical individuals undergo scanning by minimizing wait times and improving overall work flow in radiology suites.

The Servo-i MR was developed by MAQUET and is manufactured with different versions for adult or pediatric patients.
