CMS Provides Health IT Curriculum

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) started a new web-based portal offering information and learning modules to support physicians evaluating IT solutions; including vendor selection and system design. The Doctor’s Office Quality Information Technology (DOQ-IT) is considered the first educational effort of its kind and is geared to promote overall healthcare quality.

DOQ-IT currently contains information directed at conceptualizing IT adoption in the healthcare environment, including potential barriers to transformation. It also focused on increased patient participation in their own care.

Future iterations of the tool will include continuing medical education activities. Planned lessons will include means to leverage tools to assist in clinical decision making and adopting evidence-based best practices.
