New Catheter Launched by OrbusNeich
OrbusNeich announced the availability of a new catheter, the Sapphire NC Coronary Dilation Catheter. The system was just blessed with the CE mark, allowing marketing of the tool in Europe.
The device is a non-compliant balloon which has growth controlled at a rate of 0.6 percent per atmosphere of pressure over the range of working pressure for controlling dilation. In addition, the system has a high of 22 atmospheres rated burst pressure. These features support treatment of calicified, tough lesions as well as post-stent dilation.
The Sapphire NC was designed with materials engineering and advanced precision technologies to support deliverability and reliability. In particular, the tool includes a HIgh Speed Tracking (HIST) tip. This allows flexible tracking along the guidewire. Another design feature is the company’s Tight Fold (TIFO) processing; which allows creation of a slender profile. This allows use of the device for crossing tight lesions.
The catheter is available in a range of different sizes, including those to match the lengths of stents most commonly utilized. The company specializes in the development of tools to treat patients with vascular disease.
