New Method for Breast Cancer Screening

At the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, NeoMatrix shared its new Pap test to screen for breast disease. The Halo Breast Pap Test is a noninvasive means to assess breast duct fluid, which can identify women at risk for developing breast malignancy.

The HALO Breast Pap Test is analogous to the Pap smear used in cervical cancer screening, which identifies abnormal cells before cancer development. The NeoMatrix product works on the same premise by assessing duct fluid, most breast cancers developed in the duct system.

The test may be particularly useful to identify women at risk for developing breast cancer who have no other identifiable risk factors, such as family history.

The ability to identify women with abnormal cytology will allow treatment to commence in order to prevent disease before the malignancy develops.
