Straumann Drill Wins Award

Winner of the 2007 Medical Design Excellence Award (MDEA) is the Straumann Thermoplastic Drill template. The template supports correct placement of dental implants simply and efficiently.

The template consists of a small titanium sleeve contained within a flat piece of polymer. When the device is heated, it conforms in shape to adapt to a cast molding of the patient’s teeth. The model can then be placed directly in a patient’s mouth to guide implant placement.

Straumann’s business focus is the creation of tools and products for oral tissue regeneration and implant and restorative dentistry. The drill template was launched in 2006.
