Deskstop Spirometer Launched

A new spirometer (pdf) suitable for use on any desktop, the Vitalograph ALPHA, was launched by Vitalograph, based in the United Kingdom. The device is lightweight and can be taken to the patient’s bedside for use, weighing in at just 2kg.

The easy to use device simplifies spirometry testing. Clinicians are simply required to enter basic demographic features about the patient including height, gender, and age. Testing is completed with the Fleisch pneumotachograph with a flowhead that is autoclaveable.

They then opt for either the VC or FVC testing. The device can evaluate VC, FVC, FEV1 FEV!%, PEF, and FEF 25-75, among other tests completed with spirometry.

Results are displayed with a bright, clear color screen. The system also provide on screen views of flow/volume and volume/time curves. Data is printed from the machine as well as being transmitted to a desktop computer. The device also includes a memory card slot for removable storage devices.

Accuracy of testing is guaranteed assuming that the product is maintained within the designated range of suitable temperatures. Volume is +/- 3%, up to 8L and flow +/- 5% up to 15L/s.
