Office-Based Diabetic Ulcer Treatment Introduced

IYIA Technologies, Inc. unveiled their new device to treat patients with hard to heal diabetic foot ulcers, the O2Misly. The device infuses oxygen under tension while the afflicted limb is contained within an enclosed chamber. The oxygen treatment is combined with a mist that contains antimicrobial therapy.

Compared to the current standard of care using a hyperbaric chamber, the O2Misly is less expensive and more comfortable for patients during treatment. Therapy can be delivered in the outpatient setting and patients do not have to be enclosed during therapy.

Clinical studies to date have noted a dramatic response among a group of patients who already failed standard protocols. All patients’ wounds healed after 20 weeks of therapy with the O2Misly.

This new option may offer a successful means to treat these generally non-responsive wounds and dramatically reduce the number of patients who would later require amputation.
