CCHIT Certifications Announced
Two EMR/EHR (electronic medical or health record, depending on your preference) products received certification from the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology, both announced April 30th.
gloEMR version 3.5, developed by gloStream, was one of the recipients. The electronic medical record system is designated for use in ambulatory care settings.
MDAware version 2.2, from eMedicalFiles, also received certification. Also used for the outpatient setting, MDAware is web-based and includes advanced technology for user identification.
CCHIT was formulated, in response, to President Bush’s assertion that EMRs be widely adopted. The Commission ensures interoperability of systems, in addition to appropriate protections of patients’ privacy.
