Boston Scientific Launches Updated Chronic Pain Device

Boston Scientific expanded their portfolio of products for the treatment of chronic pain with the July 2nd launch of the Precision Plus Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) system. The device is used to provide patients with neuromodulation therapy to treat chronic pain affecting the limbs, back and trunk.

The system is a miniaturized version of the company’s exsiting Precision system, which was originally launched in 2005.

This iteration of the system is wireless and completely cord-free. There is an extended wireless range for the remote control. The Precision Plus charger is also 85 percent lighter and 75 percent smaller than other chargers currently available.

The device uses Electronically Generated Lead Scan (EGL Scan) Technology to pinpoint the location of leads implanted without requiring imaging studies. The technology also supports optimization of programming.
