Datascope Anaesthesia System Cleared

The new AS3000 anaesthesia delivery system was approved by the Food and Drug Administration. The product was designed by Datascope Patient Monitoring, a subsidiary of Mindray Medical International.

The new system is the next generation for delivery of medication and ventilation support during surgical procedures. The simplified design supports inhaled anaesthesia delivery. The system was designed to be integrated with existing DPM monitors, such as Datascope’s Spectrum OR and Gas Module III. It can be used in a variety of settings including the operating room, critical care unit, and surgical care centers, among others.

One benefit of the AS3000 is that it expands the availability of monitoring to include the peri-operative setting. This is a current strategic goal of the company, which recently purchased Artema Medical. As well, the company recently received approval for their Spectrum OR anaesthesia monitor. The company plans to leverage these tools to increase their market share in the U.S.

Mindray, based in China, develops medical devices that are marketed around the world.
