Pain Therapy System Introduced, Accessory Approved by FDA
A new system to treat patients with both acute and chronic pain was developed, in cooperation, by Rich-Mar Corportion and Multi Radiance Medical. The new system is a therapeutic laser, the Laser Prism with Area Identification Matrix (AIM). Release of the product was described on Medical News Today. Also included in the system is the Laser-Stim accessory, which received approval from the FDA. The system is being distributed by Rich-Mar.
The treatment system is used to delivery either independent or simultaneous light and electrical stimulation. The system incorporates multiple radiances, including red LEDs, infrared and static magnetic field, and super-pulsed laser with 25,000 milliwatts of peak power with electrical stimulation.
The device uses four different program modes and includes six separate setting and sweep frequencies. A memory function is also incorporated which allows saving of up to fifty different patient programs.
The LaserStim was approved by the FDA, it is the only such device cleared by the FDA which is a combination emitter. The device is indicated to treat patients with arthritis, muscle spasm, minor joint or muscle pain, and chronic, intractable pain. The system is also used to promote relaxation of muscle tissue, minimize stiffness, and as an adjunct treatment approach to manage patients with post-trauma or post-surgical pain.
The AIM system is used to deliver analgesic effects. It was also recently approved for reimbursement by insurers when used by either chiropractors or physical therapists.
