Bi-Directional Catheter for Arrhythmias

Biosense Webster, Inc., a subsidiary of Johnson and Johnson, just released a product to support treatment of abnormal heart rhythms. The EZ Steer NAV Bi-Directional Catheter, designed for use with the Carto XP System, is a navigational ablation catheter.

The EZ Steer provides a broader range of motion and is easy for clinicians to use. It features a micro-tensioning system that allows doctors to define the exact force warranted to deflect the catheter. The positioning is maintained by the micro-tensioning element.

The device includes additional elements to support ease-of-use; such as ergonomic design and tactile feedback so that clinicians can sense the tool end and the target treatment area.

One indications for the device is arrhythmia, such as atrial flutter, amenable to treatment with ablation.
