Catheter Approved

St. Jude Medical received expanded approval for the Therapy Cool Path Catheter. The two new indications for the device include bidirectional steering and use with patients who have a type 1 atrial flutter.

The steering assists accessing areas of the heart during ablation procedures which may be challenging to access otherwise.

Use during atrial flutter allows delivery of saline to heart tissue to facilitate cooling during ablative procedures to control the heart rhythm.
