Heart Failure Diagnostic Test Cleared

The new RAMP NT-proBNP test from Response Biomedical Corporation was cleared for marketing by the FDA. The tool is designed to support rapid diagnosis of heart failure.

Approval of the new test is the first full range point-of-care assay to assess patient’s NT-pro BNP. Clinicians suggest that this test will improve clinician confidence in diagnosing heart failure.

Executives from Response note that NT-pro BNP is gaining recognition as the superior marker of heart failure. Availability of this new diagnostic test will support rapid, as well as accurate, diagnosis of patients with this condition.

This new test approach broadens the range of diagnostics which can be used with the company’s RAMP200 analyzer. That system is used to rapidly identify those patients with cardiovascular disease.

Roche will be marketing the cardiovascular point-of-care tests from Response.
