Philips Incorporates New Angiography Functionality

At the recent meeting of the European Society of Cardiology in Munich, Philips introduced their XperSwing dual-axis rotational functionality for use during coronary angiography. Cardiovascular Business News described the system expansion.

The XperSwing automated system features a C-arm that operates on two different axes simultaneously. This device can thus swing in a 3-D arc around the patient to collect coronary imaging studies with fewer rotations. This new technology feature supports a decrease in the amount radiation exposure, contrast medium dose, and total x-ray runs.

Future releases of the company’s FD systems will integrate the rotational functionality. The company expects that it will be launched by next Spring.
