Reliant Cardiac Monitoring System Approved
The Food and Drug Administration granted marketing clearance to Cheetah Medical, Incorporated for the company’s new cardiac monitoring system, the Reliant. News of the approval was posted by Yahoo.
The Reliant system is a noninvasive cardiac output monitoring (NICOM) system. The portable monitor provides highly accurate data and gives clinicians data about hemodynamic and cardiac function.
The system includes the company’s patented BIOREACTANCE technology. Data from monitoring over 1,000 patients in a variety of settings has been gathered, validating the utility of this technology.
The incorporated technology combines the BIOREACTANCE technology with traditional impedance technology. Impedance technology evaluates the voltage of electrical currents that travel across a patient’s chest. The BIOREACTANCE technology assesses frequency related effects.
The hybrid analysis approach minimizes the impact of electrical noise and patient movement interference on the data. Other factors that are better controlled with the hybrid approach include electrode misplacement and noise associated with respiration. These components foster a highly responsive, precise, and accurate assessment of hemodynamic status and cardiac function; this data often cannot be evaluated with other modalities.
