St. Jude’s Pacemaker Tool Approved for U.S., European Marketing

St. Jude Medical, Inc. has a new tool, integrated in the company’s existing line of Frontier II pacemakers and the Promote and Current ICDs, that was granted FDA and CE approval. The tool customizes pacemaker timing settings ideally for each patient.

QuickOpt Timing Cycle Optimization can be completed in less than two minutes in the outpatient setting, so that pacemaker timing can be easily adjusted across time as patient’s needs change. The current approach to assess timing needs requires echocardiography, an expensive and time-consuming procedure. Many clinicians forego testing due to these limitations.

The component has also received European approval in a number of St. Jude’s other pacemaker products, including the Zephyr.
