TomTec Updates Ventricular Analysis Software
At the European Society of Cardiology meeting, TomTec will launch the updated version of their 4D RV-Function software, which supports analysis of right ventricular function. The tool supports assessment of findings collected with 3D ultrasound. The announcement was posted on Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology News.
The product was initially introduced just over one year ago, in June 2006. The newest iteration of the product includes an updated workflow concept. This feature was modified to support ease of use and rapid analysis of findings. The system was also updated to ensure accuracy of findings, that such can be reproduced.
The newly organized system let doctors review the right ventricle by examining those structures that are familiar. This means of analysis allows examination of studies by a broader array of clinicians, including those who are not familiar with the images generated with 3D echocardiography.
Nevertheless, a complete understanding of that structure is critical. Right ventricle activity plays an important role in diseases such as pulmonary and congenital heart disease, as well as heart failure. Immediate quantification of findings can streamline disease management, including direction of treatment planning.
TomTec develops products to acquire, analyze, and reconstruct data procured with ultrasound, including 3 and 4D methods and standard 2D ultrasonography. In addition to products for cardiology, the organization also has tools for radiology, vascular disease, and obstetrics/gynecology.
