New Virtual Colonoscopy System Launched
The Xelis-Colon was recently introduced by INFINITT North America. The system is a new 3-D visualization solution, as described on Medical Imaging.
The new solution was designed to increase the rate of colorectal polyp detection by correlating 2- and 3-D images. The system can also improve the productivity of radiologists through improved workflow and reporting tools.
The system incorporates endoluminal fly-through techniques. These allow clinicans, including radiologists and gastroenterologists, the opportunity to visualize the entire inner surface of the colon in a unified, unfolded view.
The Xelis incorporates post-processing techniques, such as volume rendering. These tools provide clinicians with advanced viewing and diagnostic capabilities.
An array of viewing modes are included, 2- or 3-D review, synchronized 2D-3D views, automatic segmentation, measurement tools, and stool tagging.
These means to view studies procured, combined with the reporting features and workflow support, should shorten the amount of time required to complete interpretation. INFINITT suggests that these features may reduce time to assess studies by 20 to 30 percent.
