Pill Camera Updated

Israeli-based Given Imaging, Ltd. received FDA approval for the newest iteration of PillCam, a pill-sized diagnostic camera used to image the small bowel.

A pill containing a camera and flash are swallowed by the patient. As it passes though the gastrointestinal tract, the device takes pictures.

The newest model, PillCam SB 2, has improved imaging quality. It includes a wider field of view and advanced optical technology. The tool also controls light to further enhance images.
