Agendia Test Pinpoints Ideal Therapy

TargetPrint, a test for breast cancer specimens, was recently launched by Agendia. This new diagnostic test was designed to evaluate expression of a number of different genes important in treatment decision making for malignancy of the breast.

The test specifically assesses the expression of Human Epidermal growth factor Receptor 2 (HER2), estrogen receptor (ER), and progesterone receptor (PR). Test results can identify those patients who are appropriate candidates for hormonal therapy.

Evaluation of samples from breast cancer biopsy is completed with the company’s High Density Chip. The Chip was approved for marketing last month by the FDA.

Results from assessment provide clinicians with a molecular profile of each patient that describes their unique prognostic parameters. The company intends to expand the test to include potential drug targets.

Agendia specializes in molecular cancer diagnostics. Four products are already available from the company, all of which integrate the company’s tumor gene expression profiling approach.

One of the company’s most recognized tests is MammaPrint, which was approved by the FDA. The test assesses recurrence risk for breast cancer patients and was previously described on HospitalBuyer.
