K-ras Testing Available from Bio-Reference

Patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and colon cancer who require K-ras mutation testing can now have such completed by the GenPath division of Bio-Reference Laboratories, Incorporated. This test is considered one of the company’s diagnostics that fall into the category of personalized medicine.

Those patients who do have a documented K-ras mutation are candidates to receive therapy with targeted therapy along with standard chemotherapy regimens. In particular, patients with K-ras mutations are less responsive to treatment with TKIs.

Bio-Reference is a full services laboratory, the third largest of its kind in the U.S. The company is particularly known for its hematopathology testing services.
