New Chemistry Tests for Anemia Launched by Siemens
Three new tests have been launched by Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics for use with the company’s Dimension Vista 1500 Intelligent Lab System. The new chemistries are used to assess patients who may have anemia, as described in the press release from Siemens.
The LOCI Folate, LOCI Ferratin, and LOCI B12 test use the LOCI Advanced Chemiluminescene Technology. This approach to specimen analysis provides an increased level of sensitivity in immunoassay testing. It additionally includes a broad test menu capability when used with the Dimension Vista Intelligent Lab system. These three markers represent the most common types of anemia seen in the general population. Almost 30 percent of people worldwide have some form of anemia.
The Dimension Vista Intelligent Lab system is an ultraintegrated chemistry analyzer. With the additional chemistries now available, the system includes comprehensive menus for the detection of anemia and iron metabolism and can differentiate between these conditions to pinpoint the underlying disease causing the anemia. Iron and total iron binding capacity is determined by photometric methodology. Aoluble transferrin receptor, transferrin, and haptoglobin testing are completeed with nephelometric methodology.
Additional test menus available for use with the Dimension Vista include the above described for anemia, thyroid disorder, cardiac disease, protein testing, therapeutic drug monitoring, drugs of abuse testing, and routine and specialty chemistries testing.
