All-In-One STD Test Hits Market
Seegene introduced a new test to screen for sexually transmitted disease (STDs) which simultaneously tests for the presence of the most common of such. The launch of the Seeplex STD/HPV Diagnostic Test was detailed by Clinical Lab Products.
Among diseases detected with the test are Chlamydia Trachomatis (CT), Neisseria Gonorrhea (NG), and 14 high risk and five low risk strains of Human Papillomavirus (HPV). All of these diseases are assessed with a single reaction tube; while the test is offered by Seegene at the same price of one test used to assess a single pathogen.
The Seeplex uses multiplexing polymerase chain reaction (PCR) laboratory testing. This analysis approach allows the detection of multiple pathogens simultaneously. This test kit utilizes the Seegene Annealing Control Primer (ACP) and Dual Priming Oligo (DPO) to create a test which detects the presence of multiple pathogens and still achieves the optimal levels of specificity, sensitivity, and reproducibility.
The current test approaches for diagnosing each of the STDs incorporated into the Seeplex STD/HPV Diagnostic Test utilizes a single test for each different disease, which is significantly more expensive. As well, STDs have a high level of coinfection; this test can assess the presence of the more common conditions simultaneously. As well, HPV is the primary cause of cervical cancer, this test can foster early diagnosis.
