Fertility Test with Serum Specimen Introduced
A new fertility test that uses a blood sample developed by Repromedix Corporation has been introduced to the U.S. market. The Plan Ahead female fertility test determines how many eggs a woman has, as described in the press release from the company.
The test considers a number of different factors in the assessment, including Insulin B, FSH, and AMH. All of these are ovary-related hormones. A combination of this information is used in the estimate.
Findings obtained with this test indicate how many eggs remain and provide women with an estimate of their egg supply. Patients can also compare their status with other women for pregnancy planning purposes. The development team at Repromedix suggests that this new test method will additionally provide means to diagnose fertility related issues at an earlier stage.
This test offers a significant advantage over the currently available techniques to assess egg supply. The most commonly used approach is egg retrieval, which is a minimally invasive and expensive procedure. The new Plan Ahead test costs about $350.
The test was officially launched at a number of different fertility clinics across the country. Repromedix has a national reputation as a diagnostic laboratory for fertility testing.
