Pittsburgh Maternity Center Opens

The new labor and delivery unit at the Forbes Regional Campus in Monroeville, part of Western Pennsylvania Hospital, represents the changing trend in hospital construction. It also highlights some unique considerations for the population of parents-to-be.

Similar to the current trends in hospital construction, the facility provides patients a comfortable experience by modifying the physical surroundings. The facility incorporated such; the eleven new suites have sleeper sofas for dads, Jacuzzis, and flat screen TVs.

Other considerations in the new facility were means to integrate emerging technology to support optimal care and the safety and security of patients.
