DOJ Subpoenas Orthopedics Manufacturers

Biomet, Johnson & Johnson subsidiary DePuy, Stryker and Zimmer announced they received subpoenas from the Antitrust Division do the Department of Justice as part of an investigation across the orthopedics sector. Zimmer said in a statement sent to the media that the DOJ had requested “documents for the period beginning January 2001 through the present, pertaining to an investigation of possible violations of federal criminal law, including possible violations of the antitrust laws, involving the manufacture and sale of orthopedic implant devices.” The three other companies followed with similar disclosures mirroring the letter received by Zimmer.
