New Bone Graft Substitute Introduced

GeneX putty from Biocomposites received marketing clearance from the FDA. The putty is a resorbable bone graft substitute that was developed from the company’s experience with synthetic calcium composite technology.

The material is manufactured through a proprietary process from the company, which creates a reproducible negative surface charge. This characteristic stimulates the activity of bone cells, which accelerates formation of bone by harnessing key proteins and directing osteoblast proliferation and adhesion to promote rapid osteogenesis.

The material is provided to clients in a pre-loaded syringe. This supports optimized handling of the product for delivery to patients.

Clinicians with experience using the technology suggest that such provides similar fusion capability to autografts in an animal model.
