Ortho Software Launched by Merge

Merge Healthcare launched a new digital workstation, Merge Ortho, for orthopaedic surgeons. Merge Healthcare develops advanced visualization applications.

Among the tools incorporated in the software program are digital features, as used with PACS systems, to streamline imaging functionalities including acquisition, manipulation, archiving, and web distribution.

Advanced measurement is accomplished with ImageSnap Technology. This component automatically measures areas designated and, further, suggests appropriate devices and implants and placement location.

Additional components of the system include tools for surgical planning, including automated template placement and movement. The system includes a library of implant templates from a variety of prosthesis manufacturers. An Automatic Imaging Stitching component allows disparate images to be consolidated. This tool is particularly helpful for cases that entail numerous imaging studies, such as x-rays.

A compendium of features to evaluate data are also integrated, including data mining tools. Incorporated software fosters analysis of a variety of outcome measures, including recovery rates, implant use, and pain thresholds.
