Pediatric Chair for Radiology Imaging Updated
Clear Image Devices (CiD) launched a new version (pdf) of their Pediatric Positioning Chair. The chair is designed to support radiology studies in infants and children up to age four. The launch was detailed by Health Imaging News.
The chair is specifically designed to maintain pediatric positioning during radiologic evaluation, supporting optimized workflow, accuracy of images, and patient safety. The chair is a saddle seat which includes a form-fitting, detachable saddle horn. For older children, the saddle horn helps to support appropriate patient positioning. In either iteration, the saddle horn also supports a genital lead shield that is protective.
Patients are immobilized gently, but securely. Patients are secured in the chair before the study and then the chair rotates to place patients for each required view. Importantly, the center midline is maintained as the chair is rotated from AP to lateral and oblique views. The product improves cost-effectiveness by reducing the number of retakes almost entirely.
Other components of the Positioning Chair include an adjustable head-tilt and back support that fits all patients, regardless of size. The components of the chair are x-ray transparent to ensure the necessary level of contrast for radiographic imaging. Safety was paramount in the design and includes high-quality lockable casters for stability and mobility. Cleanliness of the device is maintained with a germ resistant, nonporous polyethylene.
Positioning is supported for cervical spine imaging with AP, lateral and oblique views. Both magnified airway and chest imaging employing AP and lateral views can be achieved with the chair. AP views for the abdomen and lower extremities (with patients in a standing position) can also be completed.
