SPECT Reconstruction Software Released

Digirad Corporation unveiled a new software system, nSPEED, that reconstructs three-dimensional images obtained with SPECT studies. Current software programs are limited to two dimensions.

The software leverages advanced mathematics to derive the image reconstruction which preserves resolution, but also differentiates between the four chambers of the heart during the specialty cardiac imaging. System improvements may enable reduced time to obtain studies.

Preliminary studies have shown the software to be as effective as two-dimensional reconstruction programs. Further studies are requires for validation and also procure the support of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology.
