Point-of-Care Creatinine System Launched
Nova Biomedical launched a new system that allows assessment of creatinine levels at the point-of-care. This measure of renal functioning can be assessed with a finger prick to procure a sample of capillary blood. Launch of the test was described by Clinical Lab Products.
The NovaState Sensor Creatinine system measures creatinine in blood and determines glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) using either the Cockfort-Gault or MDRD equation. Small, 1.2 microliter specimens are analyzed within 30 seconds. The system additionally provides correlation to reference methods from the central laboratory over a range of 0.03 - 12mg/dL.
The test system uses the Multi-Well test strip technology from Nova Biomedical. This was originally used in the Nova product to assess glucose levels, which was designed for the inpatient setting.
The NovaState Sensor Creatinine system incorporates instrument manager software that provides management, control, and regulatory compliance. It also allows the system to be customized to suit the needs of various departments within the hospital.
The NovaState Sensor Creatinine test system measures creatinine using a simple 30-second test. It is designed for use in th emergency department, oncology, radiology, or other point-of-care settings that require immediate assessment of kidney function.
