Aspiration Device from Pinyons Launched

Pinyons Medical Technology added a new product to their line of PowrSyringe products with the introduction of the PowrSyringe Aspirator. The Aspirator received FDA approval on October 15th, which was published on the company’s website.

The PowrSyringe Aspirator is designed to support aspiration of fluid through the incorporation of mechanical and ergonomic design considerations. The device utilizes a large syringe barrel, which increases the rate of aspiration, suction, and volume compared to smaller barrels.

The challenge that arises with use of a larger barrel is increased force and strength by the practitioner completing the aspiration, often necessitating a two handed approach to aspiration. These limitations are overcome with the new device from Pinyons, which is used with one hand alone. The product includes handles that are directly connected to an integrated barrel and plunger. When the handle is squeezed, the plunger pulls back to aspirate fluid.

Allowing clinicians to complete aspiration with one hand enables use of the other hand to complete other activities, such as operation of biopsy needles, imaging probes, or catheters. The device also allows clinicians better control over the aspiration itself, including changing the aspiration force during the procedure. The product includes a universal connector, which facilitates use with other tools commonly employed during aspiration procedures. A range of barrel sizes are also available. The company plans to commence sales at the beginning of next year.

The launch follows the recent introduction of the company’s PowrSyringe Injector, which was detailed on Hospital Buyer.
