Endovascular System for Vascular Clots Introduced

The EkoSonic Endovascular System with Rapid Pulse Modulation was recently launched by EKOS. The system, approved by the Food and Drug Administration, is indicated to dissolve vascular blood clots.

This is the only approved tool available that delivers thrombolytic drugs and microsonic energy simultaneously. These combined feature create an approved system to remove clots through an acceleration of the dissolving process.

The system delivers intermittent bursts of microsonic energy which increase the rate that thrombolytics can permeate the clot. This increases dissolving by up to four times the rate that occurs with conventional catheter-related thrombolysis. There is no resulting hemolysis or thrombus breakage.

By dissolving the clot more quickly, clinicians can deliver a smaller dose of thrombolytics. This lowers the incidence of complications. It further supports more rapid treatment time.

The system further incorporates an advanced control unit. This feature was integrated to support a more intuitive interface for users. This simplifies the set up and operation of the system. In addition, the system is compatible with the company’s line of endovascular devices, the EkoSonic Mach 4 Endovascular Device.

The EKOS Corporation specializes in the development of microsonic technologies for medical applications. The first tool launched by the company was a vascular thrombosis system.
